what happens when
you put together
kiddie pools.
friends.
pizza.
cake.
snakes.
toys.
a slip n slide.
and pet fishies
to take home?
bennett turning two,
that's what.
thanks to everyone
for loving bennett so much.
we're a lucky little family
to have such loved ones around us.

farmers market.
waiting for the train
to take us to the market.
there were lots of tasty places to eat...
and dogs to love...
and flowers to smell.
musicians everywhere.
crazy steel guitar guy is
there pretty much every year...he's really talented.
musical talent, of course, includes
ellie...i love him.
he is so very sweet
and aside from the market
you can spot him playing his cello
outside of the broadway theater
and around temple square...
salt lake really
wouldn't be complete without him.
so much fresh
fruit and vegetables and
amazing bread...oh, the bread.
i love vosens but how cute is
the name crumb brothers?
and if that isn't enough
then cross the street and
go to tony caputo's market
and carlucci's bakery...
and yes you will immediately
start talking with a new york accent.

the day they brought us you.
valentines? who cares.
halloween? big whoop.
christmas?...okay christmas
is important...but my point is
it's today that i care about.
today is the greatest
of all the days.
today they brought us you.
i love the twenty-second day of july...
especially the one in 1983.
happy, happy birthday
my dear sweet davey.
maybe bennett says "boobies".
maybe he gets burned by the light bulb....and maybe i laugh,
but i was not willing to record us all over again.
this is the best we could do....just know how much we love you.

bilkiegpom.
rarely do people
spell
pronounce
write
our last name correctly.
in my 3 lovely years
of being a pilkington
these are the ones
i hear the most:
pinkleton
pickleton
peekington
dave has heard way more...
however,
this one takes the cake:
(written on a sheet cake box our family ordered for grandpa lew's 90th birthday)

falling.
out of nowhere,
all of the sudden,
you're two.
i'm in love with you, you know.
every time you beg me to
sing you one last song
or read you one last book...
every time we drop daddy off
at work and we drive away
and you say "daddy nice"...
every time you raise your
tiny fists in the air and yell
"king of da wild!"...
every time you tell me i'm funny...
i fall deeper and deeper.
blessed to have you in our
lives, in our arms, in our forever.
happy birthday, my boy.
